the Honeymoon

The Honeymoon was fantastic. We stayed at the Alderbrook Resort on the Hood Canal in Union, Wash. It was the first real holiday for either of us and it was worth every penny.

Day of Days

Aaaaannnnnddddd........... completion.......

As an event that was intended to be modest and that become even more so as the date approached, I assumed that the level of complexity would be in an inverse relationship to the scope of the event.

I assumed incorrectly. Preparing for and executing the event involved chaos at an almost Cuthulu-like scale that threatened to shatter my fragile human constitution. In the end, I survived... but just barely.

Great praise needs to be heaped upon my Best Man; Clay and his lovely wife; Marsha. Not the least of which for their calm demeanor; panic begets panic and I am thankful for people that do not incite such vile things.

But most importantly, I have a lovely bride that I somehow tricked into marrying me.

Soundtrack

I introduce to you, the listening audience, the freshly finalized soundtrack to the much-anticipated wedding hit of Summer 2009; 'Ryan & Aimee: The Wedding!' is available from fine retailers everywhere.

Track listing is as follows:

Prelude:
1. 'What Have We Done?' -The Northern Conspiracy
2. 'Giving Me Wings' -the Frames
3. The Trapeze Singer -Iron & Wine
4. 'You're Nobody Until Somebody Loves You' -Dean Martin
5. Lamb of God -Red Letter

Ceremony:
1. The Glory Of God -Red Letter
2. Be My Baby -Ivy
3. Lohengrin, Act III; Treulich Gefuhrt Ziehet Dahin - "Bridal Chorus" (Orchestral Version) -London Promenade Orchestra

5. Romans 5 -Red Letter

It's largely non-traditional and heavily influenced by my last church (Mars Hill) but we like it so, deal.

the Proposal

I formally proposed to Aimee from the observation deck of Smith Tower (my favorite building) in downtown Seattle on 21 February. Then we started working on a wedding date.

the Honeymoon

Aimee and I will be spending a couple days after the wedding at Hood Canal. Specifically the Alderbrook Resort in Union. I'm hoping that it will be a nice place to decompress.

Registry

In keeping with "tradition" (because it's obvious that we are both strict followers of such), Aimee and I are registered at Target. (If you can't find it, search by our names.)

Studies have shown that a plethora of small kitchen appliances lead to long and successful marriages.

The Third Time Is The Charm

For those not aware, Aimee and I almost got married some years ago during our past relationship in 1999. I have been under the impression that this is our second go at it. However, I was just recently informed that the initial plan was in 1997. Which would make this the third attempt...

Odd? No, that doesn't seem odd at all.
